Prof. Mordechai (Moti) Gutman, graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University in 1981. Specialized in general surgery at Hadassah Hospital (Rokach), which was then part of the Tel Aviv Medical Center, under the guidance of the late Prof. Roni Rozin.
In 1992, he left for two years to study at the well-known M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, where he mainly researched metastatic spread mechanisms of cancer.
Upon his return to Israel, Prof. Gutman was appointed Deputy Director of the Surgical Department B at Ichilov Hospital, under the direction of Prof. Yosef Klausner. In addition to his role as deputy director, he established the Regional Chemotherapy Unit, which specialized in special treatments for advanced tumors in the extremities and abdominal cavities, and gained a national and international reputation.
In 2002, Prof. Gutman was appointed director of surgical department A at the Meir Medical Center, and in 2009, director of surgical department B at Sheba Medical Center.
Throughout the years, Prof. Gutman has worked in research and teaching. He is active in university and national committees, serves as head of the Steering Committee for General Surgery of Maccabi Health Services, and is a member of the National Councils for Anesthesia and Intensive Care Surgery and Oncology. In 2008, he was appointed a professor at Tel Aviv University.
Prof. Gutman is an expert in breast-conserving, as well as mastectomies, with or without immediate reconstruction. He gained extensive experience in these surgeries and worked together with plastic surgeons specializing in the field.
